Authorities and Organizations issue recommendations for a safe Halloween

Halloween is a highly anticipated holiday in the U.S., but it comes with certain risks. Shaphat Outreach is urging parents, young people, and event organizers to prioritize safety during Halloween celebrations and costume parties.

As Halloween night approaches, Shaphat Outreach warns of an increase in incidents and crimes in San Diego during this season. “We want to alert families going out for trick-or-treating or parties to be cautious,” said Jeffrey Raya, a member of the organization dedicated to steering young people away from violence and the risks of gang involvement.

The organization advises people to attend only safe gatherings, go out with trusted friends, and check candy for any potentially harmful substances.

San Diego police will also step up patrols in residential areas, bars, and nightclubs. “We ask citizens not to drive under the influence and to avoid wearing masks while driving to prevent distractions, especially with many children crossing streets,” explained José Ysea, spokesperson for the San Diego Police Department.

Authorities remind the public that following these recommendations is essential to prevent tragedies and that in case of emergency, they should call 911.
