Costco, Trader Joe's, Target, Walmart, and Kroger stores are distributors of these products

Meat producer BrucePac has expanded its product recall to nearly 12 million pounds of ready-to-eat meat and poultry items due to potential listeria contamination. The company, based in Durant, Oklahoma, initially recalled over 9 million pounds of products last week.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service issued a statement announcing the expansion of the recall, which now includes additional products and production dates. Some of these products were sent to U.S. schools.

The updated recall affects hundreds of products, such as prepared salads and burritos, sold at stores including Costco, Trader Joe's, Target, Walmart, and Kroger. The initial investigation found that BrucePac's ready-to-eat chicken was the source of the contamination. No illnesses have been reported so far.

Consumers are advised to carefully review the product and label information included in the recall press release.
