Santa Monica College closed its doors on Tuesday following a campus shooting that left an employee injured, which authorities have classified as a "workplace violence incident." As of Tuesday morning, no arrests had been made in connection with the incident.

The shooting occurred around 10 p.m. on Monday at the university's Center for Media and Design, which also houses the public radio station KCRW. The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, is in critical condition at the hospital. The shooter remains at large.

The university stated that it is cooperating with authorities and that all campuses will remain closed to ensure the safety of the community. The Santa Monica Police Department is leading the investigation but has not provided further details at this time. Santa Monica College has an enrollment of approximately 30,000 students across its various campuses.
