San Diego capitalized on their home advantage to defeat Los Angeles

With a score of 6-5, the San Diego Padres defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers tonight at Petco Park, taking a 2-1 lead in the National League Division Series. This win puts them just one victory away from returning to the Championship Series, where they would face the winner of the series between the Philadelphia Phillies and the New York Mets.

The Dodgers opened the scoring in the first inning with a solo home run by Mookie Betts. However, the Padres not only responded in the second inning but also took a commanding five-run lead.

It all started with a single by Xander Bogaerts, driving Manny Machado home to tie the game. Then, David Peralta hit a double that brought in Bogaerts and Jackson Merrill.

In the third inning, Teoscar Hernández brought the Dodgers within one run with a grand slam, driving in Mookie Betts, Shohei Ohtani, and Andy Pages.

Michael King started the game for the San Diego Padres, pitching five innings, allowing five runs, five hits, and one walk, while striking out three batters.

For the Los Angeles Dodgers, Walker Buehler took the mound, pitching five innings, giving up six runs and seven hits.

The fourth game of the series will be played this Wednesday, October 9, starting at 6:08 PM.
