Lyle and Erik are sentenced to life in prison
One of the Netflix series that has made a significant impact and captured the community's attention is “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story,” which recounts the real-life events of how two brothers murdered their parents to collect insurance money.
On the night of August 20, 1989, brothers Lyle and Erik Menéndez killed their parents. As is common with such real-life cases, followers sought to uncover more than what is presented on screen, leading to the discovery of a collectible card featuring Mark Jackson.
The NBA card, from the 1989-1990 season when Jackson played for the New York Knicks, shows him making a pass on the court at Madison Square Garden. What is striking about the image is that sitting in the front row to his left are none other than the Menéndez brothers.
Initially, the Menéndez brothers were not linked to the crime since their parents' bodies showed gunshot wounds to the knees, suggesting a mob connection. Additionally, they had the alibi of having movie tickets for a Batman film.
However, it was astonishing how they seemingly moved on from their parents' deaths, spending significant amounts of money, including purchasing two season passes right at the edge of Madison Square Garden for Knicks games. Their total expenditures reached around $700,000.

Erik later confessed the plan to a psychologist, which led the police to charge them with homicide. In 1996, they were sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
