A family returning from a funeral in Mexico has alleged that border agents at the San Ysidro Port of Entry drew their guns on them in a case of mistaken identity. Joshua Durazo, who was traveling with several relatives, recounted that the officers drew their weapons and ordered them out of the vehicle, including two children and his 75-year-old aunt.

The agents were searching for a man with a common name that matched one of the family members. Although they were eventually released, Durazo’s aunt had to be hospitalized due to the distress, and his teenage son was so traumatized that he has not been able to return to school. Durazo expressed his fear of crossing the border again, emphasizing that this kind of situation could happen to anyone with a common name.
