The events are circulating on social media

During the second half of the match between Xolos de Tijuana and Chivas del Guadalajara, a brawl broke out among fans in the corner of the aisle leading down to Zone 1 of Estadio Caliente.

Security quickly controlled the situation. However, around 10:30 PM, after the match had ended, a man identified as Alfredo Cárdenas, who had been involved in the earlier altercation, was shot in the parking lot of the city’s largest "perrera" (dog pound).

Emergency services received a report of a man being shot at that time, prompting the arrival of municipal, state, and even National Guard authorities at the scene. The injured man was rushed in critical condition to IMSS Clinic 20.

Social media videos show the gunshot victim initiating the earlier brawl and later lying injured after the shooting, while a woman screamed and cried, attempting to help him.

"I was a few cars away from where the shot was fired. I heard more than three gunshots and saw the man fall to the ground, and I heard his wife's desperate cries. A friend saw the shooter, around 18 or 19 years old, running through Access 3 of the stadium and putting the gun in his pants," a witness stated.

In response, both Xolos de Tijuana and Liga MX issued statements expressing their regret over the incident and pledging full cooperation with authorities to clarify the facts.

"This evening, state authorities in Tijuana reported a regrettable incident outside Estadio Caliente," begins the Liga MX statement.

"The management of Club Xolos de Tijuana has been in direct communication with the authorities and Liga MX, providing all resources and gathered information to help clarify the incident," it continues.

"Both Liga MX and Club Tijuana will remain vigilant as this unfortunate situation develops, and based on the relevant investigations by the responsible authorities, will take the appropriate measures," it concludes.
