Around 1 AM on Saturday, four LGBTQ+ establishments in San Diego were attacked: Pecs Bar, The Rail, Rich's, and Number One on Fifth Avenue, all located in the LGBTQ-friendly neighborhoods of Hillcrest and North Park. Police have not released information about the attack, but witnesses say the assailant, whose identity is currently unknown, was driving a BMW at the time of the incident.

Although it is unclear if anyone was seriously injured, several LGBTQ+ patrons were attacked, and at least three were directly hit. An employee of Rich's was injured and described the moment of the attack to the local CBS affiliate, KFMB. "I felt something like explode, almost like something popped," he recounted. "And by then I was already falling to the ground. In my mind, I thought I had been shot through the eye and that my eye had flown out." Reynoso was hit in the eye by a pellet during the attack and was taken to the hospital for minor eye surgery.

A security guard at The Rail was hit several times in the arms and back while trying to escape. He said he took cover inside the bar's doors after seeing someone shooting from a car window, before realizing the weapon was not lethal. Amid the attack, a patron was hit in the eyebrow and back.

Police officers have not confirmed whether the incidents are being investigated as a hate crime or if any suspects have been identified. It is also unclear if multiple individuals are responsible for the attacks or if they were carried out by a single assailant.
