Quality, variety, and fresh products are what San Diegans seek today

In San Diego, a growing number of consumers are opting for specialty products, reflecting a trend toward seeking high-quality vegetables and fruits with unique flavors. The company specializing in the distribution of "produce," as it's known in the United States, "Produce Depot Wholesale, Corp," confirms that a segment of the population is increasingly interested in purchasing fresh herbs like mint, basil, and thyme, fresh baby corn, various types of squash, edible flowers, heirloom tomatoes, Honeycrisp apples, Oishii strawberries, and diverse lettuces, including fresh herb infusions in "petite" and "micro" sizes.

Arturo Lucero, the CEO of Produce Depot Wholesale Corp, based in San Diego, has observed a notable willingness among consumers to pay more for better quality products and distinct flavors. This trend is driven not only by the search for new culinary experiences but also by the growing number of people adopting vegan or vegetarian diets, focusing on fruits, vegetables, and their derivatives.

"The acceptance of these products is not limited to the restaurant sector but is also expanding into households," comments Arturo L. "Previously, consumers were looking for what we might call 'basic' vegetables; nowadays, we have even ventured into dried chilies like the Chiltepin, the famous small and extra spicy chili brought from the Sierra of Sonora in Mexico."

This inclination toward specialty products reflects a significant shift in consumption habits, where quality and flavor diversity play a crucial role. This phenomenon has led to an increase in sales of premium fruits and vegetables, which, despite their med- cost, have found a market willing to invest in them.
