The lawsuit, filed on Monday in the Southern District Court of Florida, accuses George, host of the popular program "This Week With George Stephanopoulos"

Donald Trump, former President of the United States from 2017 to 2021, and a future candidate for the Republican Party, sued the ABC network for defamation, as well as journalist George Stephanopoulos.

The lawsuit, filed on Monday in the Southern District Court of Florida, accuses George, host of the popular program "This Week With George Stephanopoulos," of making false statements about the case of writer E. Jean Carroll, as the former president alleges that Stephanopoulos falsely stated several times that the former president had been found guilty of violating Carrol.

It is alleged that Stephanopoulos made the statements with malice and full knowledge of their falsity.

In January of this year, a New York judge ordered Donald Trump to pay a fine of $83.3 million to writer E. Jean Carroll for defamation, following derogatory comments made by Trump in 2019, where he denied knowing Carroll and dismissed her accusations of sexual abuse.

This ruling adds to Trump's previous conviction for sexual abuse, determined by a jury in the previous year, because he inserted his fingers into Carroll's vagina without her consent in the nineties, for which he was ordered to pay $5 million for defamation.
