The record label Street Mob Records announced it on social media

Chuy Montana, better known as Jesús Cárdenas Velázquez, was found dead on Wednesday, February 7, on the Tijuana-Rosarito highway.

The body was found on the sidewalk, with several scrapes on the abdomen and hands, and was handcuffed. Next to the body, an orange Renault Stepway vehicle was found, which is presumed to have been used by the man before his death.

The death of Jesús Cárdenas Velázquez was confirmed by his record label, Street Mob Records, through a statement posted on social media. Unofficial sources claim that he attempted to flee from a supposed kidnapping, and when he got out of the car, a second person deprived him of his freedom with a 9-millimeter caliber weapon.

Chuy Montana was a recognized figure at the San Ysidro border crossing, as he often went there to sing his own corridos and covers, entertaining people going to and returning from the United States. On one occasion, he caught the attention of Jesús Ortiz Paz, the vocalist of Fuerza Regida, who discovered his talent and later invited him to join his record label.

In this regard, Montserrat Caballero Ramírez, councilor of Tijuana, reiterated the decision made in December 2023 to cancel the presentations of narco corridos in the city, as well as the processing of the investigation of certain singers and promoters involved in this business.

"I reiterate, when we decided to cancel the concerts, I commented that it was necessary to investigate certain singers and promoters; we saw a few days ago, driven by a situation, which may be isolated, but is not far from the reality that some may or may not be involved with certain criminal cells, I believe that the prosecution and the state should keep an eye on them," emphasized the councilor of Tijuana.
