The drug trafficker known as "El Mago" was assassinated in Los Angeles.

Eduardo Escobedo was murdered last Thursday in a warehouse area in Los Angeles, California, in the United States. The drug trafficker known as "El Mago" was linked to the son of "El Chapo," Iván Archivaldo Gusmán.

Alongside Escobedo, a second man identified as Guillermo de Los Ángeles Jr was also killed, while a third person was injured and later transported to a hospital.

"El Mago" served a sentence of four years and nine months in a federal prison for conspiracy to distribute over 10,000 kilograms of marijuana and for engaging in transactions with illicit proceeds.

Local authorities declared after his arrest that Escobedo was the main marijuana distributor in Los Angeles for Iván Archivaldo Guzmán.

Narcotics entered the United States through a tunnel from Mexico, and as part of Escobedo's operations, he laundered money by purchasing sports cars that were later sent to Culiacán, Sinaloa.

His brother and another man are serving sentences for the murder of a rival drug trafficker. Escobedo is presumed to be the mastermind behind the attack, but it was not proven.

Despite his criminal history, upon his release from prison in 2018, Eduardo Escobedo opened a chain of restaurants called Benihibachi.

At the moment, the motives for the murder are unknown, and no individuals have been captured in connection with it.
