Although it's still unclear whether the same individual is involved in both cases, a detailed description of a possible suspect was provided in the first kidnapping attempt
The San Diego Police Department is in full investigation mode following two attempted kidnappings in the Tierrasanta area. The most recent of these incidents took place on Friday, August 11, around 1:30 a.m. at the Snook Street playground on Bordelon Street. In this case, a white car approached a 9-year-old girl, the driver rolled down the window, and asked the girl to accept candy, as recounted by Lieutenant Adam Sharki of the San Diego Police Department (SDPD).
SDPD's investigation into this incident brought attention to another similar attempt that occurred one week prior, in the vicinity. On August 4, as a child was collecting mail from the communal mailbox on Laffey Court, a man driving a white car approached, got out of the vehicle, and made a hugging gesture toward the child, Sharki described. The quick intervention of the child's mother yelling caused the man to retreat. No injuries were reported in either incident.
Although it's still unclear whether the same individual is involved in both cases, a detailed description of a possible suspect was provided in the first kidnapping attempt on August 4. In the most recent attempt, the suspect was described as an "older man" with a beard, wearing a hat and sunglasses.
Regarding the August 4 kidnapping attempt, the suspect description was more precise. The individual is believed to be between 25 and 29 years old, around 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing approximately 175 pounds. Additionally, it was detailed that he had brown hair in a "high and tight cut" style, along with a one-inch scar on the right side of the chin. During the incident, he was wearing a green long-sleeve shirt and jeans. The vehicle used in both kidnapping attempts was described as a Honda from the 1990s to 2000s, showing signs of wear.
The San Diego Police Department is urging anyone with relevant information to contact Easter Division detectives, responsible for conducting the investigation. Additionally, the option to provide anonymous tips through CrimeStoppers has been enabled. Meanwhile, the local community is being encouraged to stay vigilant and take extra precautions to safeguard the safety of their loved ones, especially children.
