Takes on Apple in new arenas

Netflix's recent foray into the realm of video games has posed a fresh competitive challenge to both Apple TV+ and Apple Arcade. The news wasn't entirely surprising, as the streaming giant had hinted about its interest in expanding into cloud gaming a year ago.

Now, with the introduction of the "Netflix Game Controller" app, which allows subscribers to play games directly on their television, the battle to capture user attention escalates. While the app is currently available only for iOS, it is expected to reach Android devices soon.

This strategic move by Netflix could potentially impact Apple adversely as it expands beyond audiovisual content and directly challenges Apple Arcade, the company's gaming service. If Netflix manages to establish a foothold in the mobile gaming world and attract a significant user base, it could strengthen its competitive position in the digital entertainment space, including against Apple TV+ and Apple Arcade.

With plans to launch 40 games this year and 16 games in development, along with external collaborations, Netflix showcases its ambitious entry into the gaming world. However, taking on the established Apple Arcade, with its library of over 200 games and popular titles, presents a substantial challenge for Netflix in its endeavor to conquer this new territory.
