They are not a minority; Latino individuals hold an important role in the USA

The latest census conducted in the USA revealed that Latinos now outnumber non-Hispanic whites in the state of Texas. According to data collected by a media outlet, the Latino community represents 40.2% of the population in Texas, while Texan Americans constitute 39.8%.

In addition to Texas, in previous years, the Latino population became the majority in California and New Mexico. In fact, it is estimated that the community reached 62.1 million people in 2020, accounting for 19% of the total population in the USA.

And that's not all. Latinos are the second-largest demographic group in the country. As a result, their growth has led to an unstoppable increase in the use of Spanish, which was classified as the most spoken non-English language in the USA in 2019.

With these data in mind, it is essential to highlight that the Latino population plays a fundamental role in the US economy.

The BBC reported that they generate at least 2.8 trillion dollars annually, equivalent to the resources produced by Mexico and Brazil combined. Expert Sol Trujillo told the same media outlet that if the Latino population were an independent country, it would be the world's fifth-largest economy.

Currently, one out of every five Americans is of Latino origin, but it is expected that in the following decades, this figure will rise to one in four individuals, reaching 27% of the total US population by 2060.
