After the Santa Clara Police Department issued a search alert against a man who assaulted another man during the soccer game between Mexico and Qatar at Levi's Stadium, this day it was reported that Alejandro García Villanueva was arrested.

According to the statement issued, the alleged perpetrator was arrested at his home without any difficulties, by the violent crime reduction team of the Sacramento Police Department and the Santa Clara Police Department (SCPD). It was also announced that it was thanks to the cooperation of the public that the person responsible could be found.

The events occurred around minute 90 of the game when the cameras of several fans captured the start of a fight between fans, which ended with the injury, with a knife, of Emmanuel Díaz Leal, a 29-year-old man.

Villanueva was transferred to the main prison in Santa Clara where he will face due criminal proceedings for the charges against him. It is worth mentioning that the arrest of the suspect was achieved, in addition to the monitoring of security cameras.

In the same way, they have not stated how the indicated person entered the stadium with a knife, so the public awaits an explanation after this failure in the security of the property.

The affected person was notified of the arrest of the alleged perpetrator hours after his capture, who explained that once he healed from his injuries he will come to press charges against him.
