The Human Rights Campaign in the US has tracked that in 2023 alone, 500 anti-LGBTQIA+ bills were introduced

Target, LEGO, Kohl's, North Face, Disney, and Bud Light, among other companies, have faced violent reactions from some conservative groups in the US, who have engaged in harassment and threats of boycott against them.

The reason? The policies and messages of inclusion they promoted during LGBTQIA+ Pride Month. Some brands have even had to remove merchandise related to this commemoration from their stores.

The department store Target expanded its selection of products for this year's gay pride collection, including around 2,000 items that encompassed all kinds of products. Among the available products were some from the brand Abprallen, associated with transgender designer Erik Carnell, who has been the subject of controversy due to their creations with satanic themes.

Children's books like "Bye Bye, Binary" or "I'm not a girl" were also offered. These products, along with others like a sweater with the slogan "Heal Transphobia, Not Trans People" or a swimsuit falsely claimed to help transgender individuals hide their genitals (although it was mistakenly said to be targeted at children), generated harassment reactions from some customers.

"Since the release of this year's collection, we have experienced threats that affect the sense of security and well-being of our team members while they work," the Minneapolis-based company stated in a press release.

"Given these volatile circumstances, we are making adjustments to our plans, including the removal of items that have been at the center of the most significant confrontational behaviors," they added, sparking anger within the LGBTQIA+ community.

Furthermore, some ultraconservatives have launched a campaign against the fast-food chain Chick-fil-A simply because they hired a director of diversity, equity, and inclusion, a position that has been in effect since 2021.

And Twitter moderation allows conservative comments to remain, such as the statement from @JoeyMannarinoUS, which has garnered over seven million views:

"We have a problem. Chick-fil-A just hired a Vice President of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. This is really bad. Should we boycott?"

They then commented, "At some point, it won't be long before they start adding transgender semen to the frozen lemonade."

The consulting firm RILA Global Consulting reported that just in May of this year, there were 15,000 calls for boycotts related to Pride on social media. All of this is happening amid increasing polarization and intolerance in the US.

Let's remember that the Human Rights Campaign in the US tracked that in 2023 alone, 500 anti-LGBTQIA+ bills were introduced.
