This year, the theme of the San Diego County Fair is "Get Out There," promoting an outdoor adventure experience

This traditional fair dates back to 1880 when farmers would gather for competitions, idea exchanges, and culinary tastings. Since 1936, the fair has been held at the Del Mar Fairgrounds, transforming into an event that, despite its agricultural roots, now features renowned artists, dazzling attractions, and a indulgent variety of food.

After a hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic, this will be the second time the fair returns to the local events calendar. Fan favorites such as thrilling rides and fried foods will be back starting on June 7 at the Del Mar Fairgrounds in North San Diego County.

The fair will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day from June 7 to July 4, except for Mondays and Tuesdays in June. Parking is available in four designated areas, with fees of $20 for general parking, $50 for preferred parking at the fairgrounds, and $10 at the Del Mar Horse Park, two miles away. As a more budget-friendly option, visitors can park for free at Torrey Pines High School and take a shuttle bus to the fair entrance.

Ticket prices vary based on the day and the age of the visitor, ranging from $15 to $20 for adults, $12 to $17 for seniors aged 62 and above, and $12 to $17 for children aged 6 to 12, who have free admission on Fridays. Children under 5 years old have free admission at all times.

To enjoy the 60+ available attractions and games, visitors can purchase a BlastPass, a card loaded with credits to redeem at various booths. On Wednesdays and Thursdays, visitors can access the attractions unlimitedly between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. for $45, thanks to the "pay-one-price ride days" promotion by Pepsi.

This year's concert lineup includes renowned artists such as Train, Kevin Hart, La Adictiva, Carly Pearce, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Grupo Bronco, Boyz II Men, Stephen Marley with Hirie, Los Tigres Del Norte, Nelly, Elle King, Randy Houser, Alabama, and Switchfoot.

In addition to music, food, and attractions, visitors can enjoy a wide variety of events such as the "Toast of the Coast" wine festival, the International Beer Festival, the LGBTQ+ community celebration "Out at the Fair," the Asian and Pacific Islander Festival, the Gospel Festival, and the Swifty Swine Racing Pigs, among others.
